DELHI CM 'ARVIND KEJRIWAL' ARRESTED BY ED; LIQUOR POLICY SCAM UNFOLDS.
In connection with the 2021 Delhi excise case, a team of ED arrived at the residence of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
In connection with the money laundering probe linked to the excise policy case, the Enforcement Directorate detained Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal for nearly two hours after conducting searches at his official residence. The arrest comes after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him interim protection from coercive action against Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering probe. The Delhi Speaker’s big claim on Kejriwal’s future as CM is also worth reading.
The front layer security cordon was formed by rapid action force personnel arriving outside Kejriwal’s house. Several iron barricades were placed to form the second layer of the security cordon.
Atishi and Saurabh Bharadwaj, two top AAP leaders, arrived at Kejriwal’s residence while party workers chanted slogans in support of the chief minister.

The chief minister’s residence appears to have been searched by ED. The CM residence is closed to visitors. The CM appears to be fully prepared to be arrested. We will not remain silent, the people of Delhi are watching.
After Kejriwal’s arrest, Atishi declared, “It’s a political conspiracy and isn’t connected to any investigation or case.” If they wanted to investigate, they could have waited for the judgement of the court. We’ve submitted a petition and are pleading with the Supreme Court to grant us an urgent hearing this evening. He won’t resign. The Delhi chief minister is and will remain that way.
What’s the situation where Kejriwal is being probed?
The case concerns alleged corruption and money laundering in the formulation and execution of the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021-22, which was later scrapped. There are claims that AAP leaders received kickbacks worth 100 crore in the excise policy. The name of Kejriwal has also been mentioned multiple times in the charge sheets filed by the ED. The agency alleges that the accused were in touch with Kejriwal for formulating the excise policy.
In the case, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are already in the custody of the courts.
Since November 2, last year, Kejriwal has skipped eight summons issued by the federal agency, calling them illegal and politically motivated.
The ED has claimed that a conspiracy was hatched by political leaders including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and K Kavitha in the Delhi excise policy. Under the new excise policy 2021-22, a South Group comprising businessman Sarath Reddy, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy and K Kavitha got nine zones out of 32. The policy was brought out with an extraordinary high 12% profit margin for wholesalers and an almost 185% profit margin for retailers. According to the conspiracy, 6% of the 12% margin was to be collected back from the wholesalers as a kickback to the leaders of AAP. ED has alleged.
